Meteora II Downhill race - 2012

Kalambaka, Meteora Downhill race. . . We had the chance for the first time to use the motorhome from our friends of GoAlternative  and was not the only news!

Since now on we are going to be supported by VonZipper Greece with some awesome MX goggles and sunglasses ( full news soon )

Friday was an amazing day:

good weather and good local "bizoles" on the grill

THE WEEK END WAS AN OTHER STORY!

Heavy rain made the fantastic race trail very muddy and the conditions were really hard for the athletes.

Marios loves this conditions and was riding happy and dirty on his MAXXIS wet screams tires and he finished the race with an amazing third place!!

 Alessio had a big crash that letteraly shock him inside the helmet in practice. But he survived and decide to race. The result was not the one expected (20th) but he was scared after the Saturday crash and could not focus.

Dimitris and Stergios, two of our brave students, were facing for the first time such hard condition but they kept high the good spirit. And they enjoyed very much the week end!

Superenduro Pro1 - Golfo Dianese - Italy (on MAPEX)

VIDEO FIRST !!!

I took part at the  first round of the Italian Superenduro mtb series and... has being hard, a very hard race.
Location: the amazing Riviera of Liguria near Imperia, Diano Marina and San Bartolomeo al mare.
Four Special Stages and a lot up hard uphill to connect them for a total of 45km...=-0
More than 350 riders in total at the start,  from all over Europe were ready to fight against the best Italians, but at the end of the race the podium was all "tricolore" !

My race was a hell of a lot of fun riding the Mapex Krypton and I had also chance to test and love the Foss tubes, super light and strong !

Unfortunately my physical condition was not good enough for this tough race under the hot Italian sun and the fact that I never practice on this trails before in my life didn't help at all....I even took the wrong way ones. I was around the position 150 but I almost passed out at  the start of the 4th stage and I had to stop for 6-7 min.... :( , anyway I was always to tired at the begin of the stages and I was not able to push as much as I wanted....(loooooser).
I really need an harder training program is I want to race in this sport.

The Krypton has being amazing and the Foss incredible! And the Mapex guys...well the coolest people in the world ! :)
My next endurance gravity race? Italian Supermountain round 1 ..... there I don't have to pedal to the top, is "just" a veeery long way down :P

Parnitha: "Elevator" Gravity Cup race - 25-4-2012

After many lessons on Parnitha soil we finally got a race here.

Some of our best downhill students: Irini , Sakis and Stergios took part in the race with me (Alessio).
Irini was the only female racing and she left many boys behind !  First podium for her and we really hope to see some competitors next time! C'mon girls come and race! 

Sakis and Ste did well and enjoyed the race. Showing some good style at the last big jump!

I had a good qualification run in the 6th place. I decided to give a shot for the podium pushing the Commencal Meta as hard as I could, but I pushed to much and crashed in an high speed turn and I ended up with the 44th position. It will be better next time for me, but I proved that the Meta is a bike that can do everything.  

The race was a lot of fun an easy trail that gave everybody the possibility to race, the organization was maybe the best we ever had in Greece being on schedule even if were racing more than 150 riders.
